Today I'm happy to premiere the new Missa de Angelis Meditations, Op. 232 by Vidas Pinkevicius. Here's what he writes about them: "These are accessible and effective 4 organ meditations based on Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei parts of Gregorian chant Missa de Angelis. Musical language of this cycle is modal and with a few exceptions makes the mode of this Mass shine. The origin of this work lies in improvisation but it is not a direct transcription. However, the general idea and form is the same as in improvised version. These meditations could be played on a wide variety of organs and will serve liturgical purpose whenever contemplative music is desired. Dedicated to my Rien Schalkwijk who suggested I transcribe my improvisations." Hope you will enjoy the beautiful sounds of the organ at Vilnius University St. John's church!
