When you practice organ music, you obviously encounter the same passages in different places of the piece. In addition, such passages can be transposed to another key but they are essentially the same.
So the question is this: how do you choose the fingering for such places? Do you play with the same fingering every instance you find this passage in your piece or do you make adjustments? I emphasize the necessity to use the same fingerings in similar situations. When I play early music, I choose such fingering and pedaling which helps me to achieve the desired articulation naturally without thinking. The same is with the legato music. The places suitable for adjustment are these where the passage can't be played with the same fingering due to the very evident difference in accidentals. For example, if your melody is written in C major (0 accidentals) in one instance and in F sharp major in another (6 sharps), then perhaps it is wiser to make the necessary adjustments than to keep the same fingering in both situations.
