When we are praising our own work, we know that something is not right, we're just feeding our resistance.
When we think that we play the organ brilliantly, improvise amazing music, or compose remarkable pieces, we're not being honest with ourselves. It may sound nice to our ears but it's not for us to decide. An immature pride is a sign of an amateur. Chronic dissatisfaction and humbleness is a sign of the professional. The first step is always to shut of this internal dialogue by asking yourself, "is this the best I can do?" And the answer is: "Of course not."
