Write this one voice melodic dictation with pencil on a stave notation. Follow these 9 simple steps:
STEP: 1 Decide on tonality
STEP: 2 Write in key signatures
STEP: 3 Write in starting and ending notes
STEP: 4 Decide on the range (the highest and the lowest notes)
STEP: 5 Decide on the mode (major or minor)
STEP: 6 Write in time signature.
STEP: 7 Decide if the dictation starts from the downbeat or upbeat.
STEP: 8 Write in the rhythm while counting parts of the measure.
STEP: 9 Write in the melody
The dictation is in 8 measures and is notated in the treble clef. Before the dictation begins, you will hear treble A and a tonic chord of that key which you can guess from its distance to A.
You may listen to the dictation as many times as you need to complete it.
Here is the answer key (but don't look at it until you are done).
After you have completed the exercise, post your time and the number of times you listened to it in the comments.
