Yesterday our keyboard instrument fleet got bigger! Ausra and I received Harmona 85 from Poland. Harmona is a brand of vintage electric harmonium with accordion reeds, made in former East Germany by Weltmeister company in the 50-70s. It’s a completely acoustical instrument, but it doesn’t have bellows, like accordions or harmoniums have. Instead it has a fan which blows air directly into the reeds which allows for playing with two hands, just like any keyboard instrument. The speed of the fan can be regulated and so can the loudness of this cool portable keyboard, weighing 12 kg. Ausra and I are planning to play harmonium duet concerts featuring Henrietta and Harmona once they are in tune to each other. If you can’t come to keyboard or organ concerts, now keyboard concerts can come to you! So today I'm happy to share the first sounds on our Harmona 85 - Andante religioso from Sonata No. 4, Op. 65 by Felix Mendelssohn. Hope you will enjoy these vintage sounds!
