Do you know basic chords and their inversions but are not sure what to do with them? Would you like to take one step further into the world of organ improvisation? If so, you are ready to enter into the realm of period - the smallest musical form which only has one complete musical idea. Very often it is 8 to 16 measures in length and a few cadences.
Modulation helps to go from one key to another, sometimes to closely related keys, sometimes to distant keys. It provides color for a piece because you are no longer restricted to just one mode.
This course will help you connect the chords and expand them into meaningful small improvisations/compositions with 4 parts which will be very useful also for church organists who want to improvise very short preludes. In each video I will show you how to modulate using 3 note or 4 note chords.
In these videos I will play very slowly, my hands will be clearly visible, and the chord progressions will be written on the screen. All you have to do is to practice each exercise until you can play it at least 3 times in a row correctly.
After completion of this course you will be ready to improvise in chordal textures in larger binary AB or ternary ABA forms.
NOTE: This course is free with Total Organist Premium and Premium Plus memberships.
