Today let's try transposing the Old Hundredth tune from F major to E flat major. This will be a transposition of whole step downward. This key has 3 flats (Bb, Eb, and Ab).
Here is the PDF score and a MIDI file for listening. Play it 3 times in a row correctly. After you are done practicing, post your time to comments. One of my students in Total Organist program asked me to create a special transposition course where she could learn to transpose playing 4 part hymn at sight half step and whole step upwards and downwards. She is preparing for an AGO examination where this kind of transposition is required so that's what I'm working on right now. If this kind of training would be helpful to you, be on the lookout for an official anouncement about Transposition for Organists Level 1 course from me soon. Members of Total Organist Premium and Premium Plus will get this course without any additional cost, of course.
