Without vulnerability there is no art. Without giving people an opportunity to respond to our work with criticism or praise or a simple "I don't care" we can't touch someone who needs to be touched.
But being vulnerable doesn't mean we have to keep re-living our past mistakes. No, it's best not to read what other people say about us, good or bad and only listen to those who are on the same path we are (and our inner dragons aren't).
Our only objective is to do work worth doing. Even if it means for those 10 minutes when our family is asleep.
And we never can hope to fully own the result, only the work. It doesn't matter if the practice was good or bad, with interruptions or without them, it doesn't matter if the performance was great of full of mistakes.
What matters is that we showed up.
And showing up is really underrated.
