This year passes very quickly and we have to start thinking about what's next.
Here's a list of organ composers whose major anniversaries we will celebrate in 2016: Samuel Wesley (1766-1837) - 250 Johann Heinrich Buttstett (1666-1727) - 350 Johann Jacob Froberger (1616-1667) - 400 Matthias Weckmann (1616-1674) - 400 Daniel Pinkham (1923-2006) - 10 György Sándor Ligeti (1923-2006) - 10 Gaston (Gilbert) Litaize (1909-1991) - 25 Jean Langlais (1907-1991) - 25 Max Reger (1873-1916) - 100 Paul Siefert (1586-1666) - 350 Antonio (1510-1566) and Juan de Cabezón (1515?-1566) - 450 Froberger, Weckmann, Langlais, Reger, and Cabezon are big ones but I hope you will also play one or two pieces from the treasury of other lesser known composers to make sure their art gets attention it deserves. HT to Cartayrade Alain who saw this drawing and added Maurice Durufle (1902-1986) - 30 years after his death. Is there anyone else from the organ world on that list that I'm missing?
