You can obtain cathedral organist position by doing the work that no other organist is doing. By becoming remarkable and indispensable (the one we can't live without, the one whom we would miss if you were gone).
Here are 2 questions worth thinking about:
1. What are your unique set of skills that no other organists have?
2. What are you doing in order to be missed if you didn't show up?
Start with this before you ponder about your CV, job hunting, or position requirements.
