It was an amazing time for me because I was free to play what I want. Nobody came up to me and asked me to play this or that, to sing this hymn or that hymn. It was a total freedom - a dream come true for any church musician.
Because I love organ improvisation so much, I decided to improvise preludes, offertories, communion music and postludes. These are pieces lasting anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes. These short compositions traditionally could be called versets.
Because I recorded everything I played (and much more), it occured to me that I could help people advance in improvising music for church services, namely preludes, offertories, communion music, postludes and modulating interludes by creating a 12 week video course.
What will this course do for you?
It will enhance your worship playing.
You will develop your improvisational skills.
You will have a cohesive plan for your liturgical improvisations.
Your improvisations will have a well-rounded structure.
You will get rid of the feeling that you keep on playing when in reality your piece should have ended a long time ago.
Improvising on the organ can be both fun and scary. Once you will become more confident in your abilities, you will start to experience much joy when improvising.
A lot of people have to play small to medium sized instruments for their church services. If this is the case with you, this course will be directly applicable to your situation.
What you will get?
For 12 weeks in a row, once a week you will receive 5 demonstrational videos plus an introductory video about this week's improvisations delivered to your email inbox.
Verset improvisations will feature different meters, keys and tonal plans so that you will get a large amount of compositional materials for your future improvisations.
Videos with my narrations about what's happening in these improvisations to listen while you hear and watch me play.
