Here's What Other Students Are Saying:
"Your sight-reading course is for me a great pleasure. In the beginning the course took me much more than 15 minutes a day. But now I am exercising the left hand everything is going much easier better and faster. And the same is the case when I repeat the right hand exercises. I feel the sight-reading training will for me be very helpful for my further study." - (Willem)
"I'm impressed with it, it has great benefits, I began working with it, and after a few exercises it was producing better results than anything I've tried in fifty years." (Steven)
"I am thoroughly enjoying the sight reading class. Art of Fugue is simply masterful. Thanks for the great class." (Nathanael)
"My sight-reading practice is going fine. It is very helpful in playing tricky rhythms and in hand displacement. Cheers." (Frank)
"I have been enjoying your sight reading course. I have fallen behind a bit due to some medical issues, but continue to make progress." (Bryon)
"The sight-reading course has helped me tremendously. Thank you very much for your essays, courses and all your help." (Hugh)
"I want to thank you for compiling a study focused only on sight reading. Its a much needed area of study, and one which my teachers of many years ago never really focused on. Often the guidance was.. “just play the music!”.
Never was I challenged by a systematic way to read at sight... either on the piano or the organ. I have taken much of your advise and tried to apply it to my practice time on the organ.
As I am a senior student recovering what I learned 40 or more years ago, I am doing this for my own pleasure and this has helped me very much. But as sight reading was and probably still is my weakness area, this course addressed many shortcomings in that area.
So let me summarize my perspectives on the sight reading course.
Benefits of the course as you provided it:
Very structured and graduated.
Consistent, a challenge each day/week, and for the most part increasing in difficult only as the skill developed.
Clear instructions... (slowly, counting, detached etc.)
The material always arrived and was available as needed. Thank you again for compiling this material." (Jack)
"I'm in the 2nd week of your sight-reading course and I'm very satisfied." (Alessandro)
"I finally finished your 40 week Sight-reading course and it has really improved my sight-reading of polyphonic music and tricky rhythms. I also took your suggestion and sight-read the Duetto II, BWV 803, by Bach, and it didn’t present any problem." (Frank)
"I did the experiment, not with the same piece but with one very similar, and it's night and day between nine months ago and today.
During these nine months the progression was painless, even though at times it took me a lot more than 15 minutes to go through some exercises.
I found the rising number of accidentals from week 20 to 27 to be particularly efficient. Everything looked way easier afterwards.
So thank you, this course was a complete success." (Matthieu)
"It has been a great pleasure in my life of having discovered your courses and material as well as the YouTube work of recordings. You have a calm and pleasant way of teaching." (Robert)
"I have just learned that I passed the CAGO exam, and am now a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists! I have had excellent coaches, lessons, and mentoring here in the United States and an outstanding teacher, but I also want to thank you for your assistance in answering my questions and in providing some excellent practice exercises and video explanations which reinforced my U.S. training! I want to continue to improve my skills and will be participating in your courses and exercises and following your video demonstrations." (Judith)
